New software, old "tricks" still needed?

Back when I got my first Logitech wheel, there where a few "tricks" recommended for the profiler settings:

1. Make sure enable center spring is checked, but set to 0%

2. Don't set the overall strength to 100%. Set it to 101% or higher.

There have been two updates to the Logitech software since then and Windows 7 software will be released soon.

Are those even needed anymore?
