DiRT Rally Newbie having FFB issues

Hi I'm new to DR and am having some confusion.

I started by the stock FFB settings, and got accustomed to it with the 1960s Mini Cooper S.
After that I saw the IMPACT FFB mod here, so I installed it. I can feel the difference in the Mini, and I surely can live with that and I'm getting better and better every time I launch the game. However after I bought and tried the 1960s Lancia Fulvia HF, and the Ford Escort Mk II. I found it very hard to control these cars. Sometimes it feels like it goes oversteer easier and faster than I expect. Also on tarmac/asphalt, the car feels very weird, almost too predictable, too stable, and too non-understeery. I have ABS off and I could hardly feel they exist out of my G27.

I'm wondering: do you guys use the FFB mod, or stick to the stock FFB? Is one generally considered more realistic than the other? I've never been into rallying, and I don't have much experience driving on loose surface in real life. I'm just wondering what kind of settings that you guys use.

The rear wheel drive cars are hard to control in the dirt...you have to be very easy with the throttle. I am pretty hopeless with the Escort..... I am using the Impact mod and it seems good, but I have not tried the stock ones lately, so I may have a go with them again, as they are supposed to be decent now.

The current FFB is pretty good right out of the box but it's lightyears away from Assetto Corsa or rFactor standards IMHO.
