All the laser scanned tracks in PC games, the Ring, are the same, exactly.
Why?
Because one company does the scanning of the track, a local company to the track.
All the game makers just buy the data, and use that.
Including iracing. You will have issues getting them to admit that, however it is true.
To scan a track that big would take days, so the track would have to close, thus it would lose money, hence the local company.
Artistic license happens sometimes with the stuff around the track, sometimes.

That's right, the laser scan cloud point data is the same, but all the scenery is hand crafted (as well as lighting, track graffiti etc (as there's likely copyright issues on using the real life graffiti.. though saying that, one of the games has writing on a wall saying something like "Jaime is a cock" which looks too real to be made up for the game!
