Paid mods...no updates

How do you guys feel about paid mods that are simply released and never so much as looked at again?

I was going through my inventory of paid mods recently and discovered a few with glaring 'holes' despite still being sold at full price.
Some are mods that I've purchased within the past year.
Anybody else see this as really bad?
If for no other reason, I'd think selling and maintaining content to the best of a modders ability would keep them in the game.

There is not a lot of guy's that make mods whit constant development.

When you pay for a mod, look on this forum for a review or comments of other racers.

Some dudes just steal the stuff of other games and put in ac only to make money
They don't dive a **** about quality you know...

I don't know which mods you are referring to specifically but I'm of the mind that if the mod is using the latest techniques for physics/visuals etc that the game supports and there are no real bugs then there should be no need for an update just for the sake of an update.

Of course any outstanding issues or out of date physics etc should be updated, and I think the stuff promoted here (RSS) definitely do that, even moving towards adding features made available since the maturing of the shader patch.

Maybe I just don't buy mods without a good reputation, but my library doesn't have many paid mods that are due an update.

Depends upon who makes it. I have bought everything that RSS has made (except V10 because it just doesn't appeal to me) and have never had a bad experience with any of their mods. Always top quality and always updated promptly if they have any issues.

Others...not so much, although I have noticed a couple of updates from other teams lately so perhaps they are getting the message.

Even some of them DO regular updates...

I have to admit, RSS does a great job of staying up-to-date with changes.
They're really not the subject of this discussion...far from it.
About the only thing they're 'guilty' of, is offering me discounts on things I've already bought.
The content is so good that with the exception of the Lotus 79 and the V10, I own everything they've ever offered.

Which paid mods are broken?

Not broken...just in need of updating to reflect new features.
I have a Shiro JT5 which could seriously use a LOD fix.
Shadows being cast around the car, looks like somebody is switching it off/on every time there is a light transition on the body of the car
It still retails for what I purchased it for in 2017 and yet is still version 1....so no real improvements.

You have missed some updates there. We are at V2 now. Email us and do check if you have us under spam.

Personally, I wouldn't expect a mod to be updated ever, just because I paid for it. Any updates I got would just be a bonus.
Ofc, I'd be bummed if a change to the game broke the mod shortly after I bought it, but unless the mod was actually sold with some sort of guarantee of updates (for game changes or just new features) then I wouldn't cry foul.

I think this is where the paid mod situation can become a real chore for the author(s). Once you put out some content and charge money for it, you have an obligation then to babysit that content through any changes and the pressure that comes with it. Of course, now with AC development stopped, that potential problem has largely vanished.

Sometimes mods are released that work fine but could be improved (thinking about DRM's flames). That kind of issue could, and should, be addressed post-release, in my opinion.
Your example is one of the glaring issues I pointed out in that offering almost immediately on release.
It just looked silly blasting down the main straight at Spain with a flame sticking out the exhaust.
Sadly, to this day, it is still like that.
I'm not even sure if they're working on that, because nobody is saying anything.

@ aless
Does URD plan on making all thier AC content compatible with shader light patch.
or just the new stuff.
From the email I received I got the idea that it might just be the newer items.
I hope it will be all of then.

The backfires were adressed in v1.1 that was released only a few weeks after v1.0, or did you mean that there are still issues after the v1.1 update?

They are also about to release another update in the near future:
