Can't argue with what James posted. You could even go for a non-modular PSU (stick with Corsair), Recycle your old case & Optical Drive, Smaller Hard Drive and save even more money

hi Traumatic
while it is a great choice, i think the Q6600 is a bit outdated now in todays standard
Go with a intel core 2 quad Q9300.....it is faster and much more efficient than a Q6600
well i'm buying a new gaming PC since mine is also getting abit outdated namely the graphics card, ATI Radeon X550 i will be giving my this pc to a family member and getting myself a Packard Bell IPower 8890
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9300 Processor
(2.5GHz, 1333MHz FSB, 6MB Cache)
Genuine Windows Vista (R) Home Premium
1024MB nVidia GeForce 9800GX2 Graphics Card
3GB Memory
1TB Hard Drive
Multi-Format Dual Layer DVD Re-Writer
8-In-1 Card Reader
6 USB Connections
okeedokee
tnx for clarifying guys...
then should it not be better to go with a core 2 duo E8400/E8500 ?
it should be overal better than the q6600
James.........if you plan to go with a 9800GX2...why don't you go with the GTX260 or the Radeon 4870?
Possibly a dual core. However imo a quad core is more future proofed and I prefer to compare the price:
E8400: £110.44
Q6000: £111.61
For £1.20 more wouldn't you prefer to have two more cores?
true
but on the other hand you also have to realize that the Q6600 is more than a year old (if not mistaken 1.5 years now)
with technology you can't go with an old stuff (or at least that is the rule that i always lived with......i have dumped my E6600 never overclocked & my P5B-E motherboard 3 months ago for a E8400 & a P5K-E motherboard with the E6600 going in a old pc)
(and the E8400 goes here in holland for 120 euro (= £95) while the Q6600 for 135 euro)
