Cars Peugeot RCZ Gr.3/4 WiP Diary

Decided to create blog to document my progress on a different personal project I decided to start while the Matra is in QA testing. (Highlighting before people ask). The model for the Matra is now going through QA testing, after QA testing and finding any discreprencies on the model the car will receive custom made physics and it will then released on Race Department.

In the meantime while I await for the Matra testing to be done I have decided I want to start creating another car model and bring it into Assetto Corsa. For this I have chosen the Peugeot RCZ Gr 3 and Gr4 version of the car from Gran Turismo Sport/7. As I just love that car and I haven't seen a good model for it on AC.

Anyway here is current progress I have made which is now in day 2 of modelling.

Days: 2

As you can see I have worked mostly on the Group 3 car than a bit on the group 4 car. Most of my attention for now will be focused on the Group 3 car and then Group 4 car.

I am also planning on doing other Gr 3/4 cars like the Alfa Romeo, Jaguar or LM cars from Gran Turismo 6 and earlier like the Camaro LM, Ford GT LM or RX7 LM car.

Well in between working on the Matra I've also carried on working on the Peugeot RCZ Gr3 car but progress on that has been slow as I dont have GT sport or 7 and finding interior shots for the car has proven extremely difficult. Can't find anyone posting them.

Anyway I have made a fair amount of progress inbetween the Matra, so here are a few screenshots of the model.
- Hood vents and Wheel Archers Vents (Holes anyway)
- Seats modelled
- Basic Dash shape is in
- Steering Wheel has been modelled as well
- Body has been UV Mapped
- For giggles I've also decided to try doing the physics on the model I have by making it handle a little bit like Huracan GT3 car

Wires Wires and more Wires. Almost all of the various GT3 systems have been installed into the car. With a TON of wiring to boot, and handle for people to open the doors from inside.

Up next to do is the drivers side stuff, like fleshing out the steering wheel column and shifters as well as adding buttons to the steering wheel.

Does the PD car even have an interior?

Yours looks really proper. I take it this car is a "fantasy race version", so what is your inspiration for the interior? Just curious, as this is the only racing variant of it I know of

I've taken a lot of photos from the interior of the RCZ cars, I've looked around race car sale pages as well as interior of the Gran Turismo GR3 RCZ car as well.

Most important parts of the interior have been done and modelled. The steering wheel column and all the buttons have been done as well as the dashboard control thing next to the driver in the middle. Meaning it is now time for UV Mapping and texturing. This will most likely be last update until end of April as I am going to visit my family. So enjoy these WiP photos and I'll continue working on the car once I am back.

It's an interesting apporach that you're modeling from scratch an entire Gran Turismo SPORT/7 original car, rather than simply converting it like many of us do outside of here naturally (which BTW, if you weren't aware we already have a converted RCZ Gr.3 mod made by Circuit Hawaii with the collaboration of Chivas AutoArt on Facebook, which also looks nice as well).

I really need to get into modeling myself as well too after I'll have my new PC built someday soon enough hopefully, like I always daydreamt during my childhood while playing Gran Turismo and other console games about seeing obscure cars never seen before in a game and those LQ ones remastered all made by me entirely, don't really care how much it would take me to even model a single car at all, I just hope to have lots of fun with it.

Lastly, perhaps after you've finished with both RCZs, I would like to see your priority focus on the older original GT race cars such as the FTO Touring Car or the 350Z Concept LM for example, modeling original interiors for each of them since those never had any interiors at all in their original appearances.

Looking really great so far, top work.

Yes, you do. Then you can do stuff yourself instead of trying to order someone else to do them for you. Maybe if you do get into modelling you might understand how much work and dedication stuff like this takes, so then you might understand how dumb these "I want you to make this and this and this and this for me" kind of posts are.

No need to know that by getting into it first then know more about it as I progress along the way for me, I already realized that after all of my failures in recluting other modders for my "team" found on Facebook and Discord for various reasons (including some shenanigans of mine) and later realizing that I'm better making stuff all on my own instead which motivated me immensely, forgetting about looking at other modders in general and do things in my own personal way, regardless how much it would take me in general.

Thanks mate. I definitely do take pride in creating those from scratch rather than converting them, I feel like it helps you develop as an artist better and hone your skill.

As for the FTO super touring and 350Z LM as well as the RX8 and Camaro LM. I already have plans for all of those classic GT4 LM cars, but that is a surprise for later.

I can already feel the future pride in me whenever I'll get into modeling eventually and bring tons of never seen before obscure cars in AC in the future whenever I look at them online, no matter how much it will take me until I won't find a job that is for now.

I just hope that you have enough creativity as much as PD has when it comes to creating interiors for all of those classic GT4 fantasy LM cars in general. If not tho, then perhaps I could help you out making a sketch on how we want those interiors to look like (even tho I suck at drawing depsite having drawn a couple of cars when I was little).

Good shout.. ;)

Non-creative people, need to spend some more time with their own game(s).

A little update on the RCZ as well.
The interior is pretty much all textured, just got to adjust a few things to make them better. Few more things I need to model as well like the brake discs and callipers.

List to do
- Brake Discs and Calipers
- Driver Animation
- Car Animation
- Car Lights
- Physics
- LOD's
- Car Engine sounds
- Anything else I forgot

Few updates on the RCZ GT3, slowly getting this car into Assetto Corsa.
Still got a few things to do, like rear lights, touch up on some textures and animate the driver, lights so they turn on, blur rims, get better brakes and caliper textures and models.
But its driveable in this state and performs similar to the Huracan GT3 so should be able to be run in Kunos GT3 classes.

Now that I am somewhat back and mostly done with house moving I can get back to both this and ironing our final kinks in Matra MS650 model and getting back to finalising anything that needs doing on Special Stage Route 5, before moving onwards to new projects, for which I have several ideas.
Regardless the progress will be slow still as I have a proper 9 to 5 job now in my chosen field, but I will give you guys updates as much as possible.

For now have a screenshots on updated textures for the RCZ GT3, my main point of focus were AO mapping for each texture set that needed it and the difference is night and day. If you are new to livery/texture creation and thought why you needed AO mapping, here is a very good example of why.

No AO
