Porknose Performance Options - A mod created with caution and respect for an already great car

This data download will give you five new performance engine models for the terrific Porknose created by Pessio available here at Race Department. First off, let me say that I realized my number one goal in doing this mod must be that I had to keep the influence on the Porknose handling and driveability to an absolute minimum. I love the way it drives and I didn't want to ruin it. I believe I have accomplished that goal while bringing a substantial increase to the engine performance options...

Hey Fat-Alfie. I have a lot of respect for you and value your opinion. I am surprised at your angry emogee about my upload of engine options for the Porknose. Like I said repeatedly I have the utmost respect for that mod and took great pains to provide an option that people might like to have available. I don't think I'm the only one who wants to have some choices in performance for that car. Perhaps you should try it? I think you will be pleasantly surprised. However, I'm sorry if I have offended you.

For those who are interested in what I am doing with the Porknose I thought I would mention that I suddenly realized yesterday that the Lotus 49 from 1967 had a Cosworth V8 engine. I researched the car some more and found that it also used a very similar ZF transmission to the one modded in the Porknose. The Lotus 49 also features adjustable gear ratios in the transmission. Therefore I have experimented and integrated the engine, transmission, and final drive ratios from the Lotus into a Porknose late yesterday to try it out. It drives great and is quite quick of course. On another note some of you may have noticed that the hp and torque curve graph for the Ferrari in my mod don't match the described engine in the car. I will fix that in a future update. The curves were from a previous higher powered Ferrari engine that ended up being too powerful to play with the other cars so I discarded it. However, that engine might work very well as competition for a Lotus powered car. Any interest? As a last comment there may be some people who feel that me modding the Porknose is like painting a moustache on the Mona Lisa. See the above conversation. My response is that everybody is different in life. That includes how people use Assetto Corsa. I use it for entertainment.

Hi man having some trouble trying to find the download for the Porknose can you help me out, please. ty

Hi. First of all, thank you very much for your terrific trim and gauge package you made for the Porknose. I love it! The post you replied to was just a question looking for interest in the lotus idea. I've actually gone ahead with it and I'm putting powertrains together right now for this skin package https://www.racedepartment.com/downloads/skins-for-pessios-garage-porknose.31691/
If you like what I am doing and things work out maybe you could make gauges that show proper redlines at some point.

Hi there. I've just downloaded and installed your performance files for the Porknose, which is getting quite a lot of exposure lately due to being featured on GP Laps' YouTube channel.

Personally, I think the idea of having a selection of engine & drivetrain options is brilliant, especially since you have clearly taken the time to work on a BOP to make them similar in performance. My sim rig is in bits while I rebuild the dash, but once it's back together (hopefully by Tuesday), I'll take the cars for a drive. I'll also try the 'More Pork Please' pack.

You might already be aware of this, but there are a few minor anomalies I've noticed with the first 'engine' pack:

The power / torque graph for the Aston Martin version is completely wrong in the UI. Not just slightly out, I mean it's indicating thousands of BHP and has a weird dip. Easily fixed by copy / pasting the figures from the donor car's ui_car_json file into the one for the porknose aston. I used the figures from the 77 Vantage.

Each of the versions presents itself as a completely new car. I don't think there is anything fundamentally wrong in that, but I prefer them to appear in CM under their 'parent' car. Again, that's easily done by adding the following line to the ui_car_json file after the 'name' line:

"parent": "pessio_garage_rd1",

The engine sounds you recommend turn out to be mainly original Kunos sounds, so you can make things a bit easier by referencing them directly in the mod:

The 77 Aston Martin Vantage you recommend uses the Kunos 427 Cobra sounds (which are not really right for a road car, but perfect for the Porknose).
The Morgan Super Aero you recommend for the BMW version uses the Kunos AMG GT3 sound set.
The (really hard to find) Ferrari 158 uses the Kunos Ferrari 250 GTO sound set.

Please don't take any of the above as criticism - I think we need more of this sort of enhancement, as long as it's done well. I'm just making a few suggestions to make a great idea even better.

Hi there! First I want to say thank you for this great addition to a great mod. I, too, love driving the RD-1, and it is nice to have some variety in the competition.

I am having some issues with the sounds, though. Since no one else has mentioned it, I am afraid that maybe I'm doing something wrong. I've got all the cars you recommend, and I've used the "replace sound" function on Content Manager to fit them to the appropriate engines. However, the '77 Corvette sound won't load at all, and the Aston (which uses the Shelby Cobra 427 sound) clips very badly at the top of the rev range. Is there something I need to change to get these to work properly?
