F1 2010 Practice post times

When I do Time Trials and I use a setup it always seems to be alot faster then in Practice1,2 or 3?

Catalunya in TT I have set 1:20.2
Catalunya in Practice I cannot get below 1:26

Why is this any Ideas?
My theory is that the engine managment that is set in TT is Fast and in Practice I can only set Casual or Standard.

I am Driving in Expert mode.
No aids on whatsoever and Manual gears....I have tried Auto gears but that makes me slower as I need to stay on the breaks a bit longer to get down the gears for the corners.

Does anyone have a solution for this or is it one of those races I will have to bad at?

Time trial is faster. In TT the track is rubbered in to the max, the tires don't wear, there is (to my knowledge) no fuel weight, and the cars are fully upgraded. It's an even playing field for drivers to compare themselves with, and it's going to be faster. TT gives you optimal conditions for every lap, whereas in all the other modes there are less than perfect conditions, as you might expect in real life.

I can understand that but I cannot get any higher up the grid than 24th oh 1 min thats last haha. I have however managed to qualify and post very good times in my previous races?

TT is more like arcade mode hence the much faster times than in career mode.
As for you struggling at Catalunya, the AI is notoriously fast on that track, everyone struggles on it.
