We take a look at some of the known cars due to ship as part of the Project CARS 2 Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Windows PC racing game later this year.

Further to a request from a few of our readers here at RaceDepartment, I have put together a list of the cars we believe will make it into the new Project CARS 2 game. The images and information contained in these posts are based on leaks and official trailers that have found themselves on the internet over the last few weeks and months.

With the new game set to feature over 170 vehicles and 60+ race tracks on launch (the highest number of tracks in a console racing game) fans will surely have plenty to keep themselves occupied come the end of 2017. As is usually the case with the slick PR machine that operates inside Slightly Mad Studios it seems that more and more information about the upcoming game keeps getting released practically every day, often making it hard to keep track of progress.

So far we know (or are fairly confident) about the following cars due to form part of the initial Project CARS 2 release. Of course some of the machines in this list have been taken from various leaks around the internet, however I've tried to only mention vehicles I feel highly confident will make the final cut.

Honda / Acura NSX (road)

Pretty sure that's not the AMG GT3 in the featured picture Paul. ;)

Car list is shaping up nicely, though like with any other sim I doubt I'd drive half of'em. Never saw the allure of the Paganis for example, but then there's the 288 GTO...

edit: Well, alright, so it IS the AMG GT3 in the pic, the McLaren cockpit threw me for a bit.

You may have a serious problem Paul.....

And You are single handedly getting a large amount of the Sim Racing community excited about PC2, so blaming you if it's a huge disappointment for getting my hopes up that it will be awesome :p

So very much this. I was all set to be mellow about the title, it might suck it might not, I might buy it, I may not. But then Paul comes in and flashes me all these shiny screenshots. I'm a simple man Paul, I can't resist a shiny Godzilla in the rain.

The Porsche 935 seems not to be a Moby Dick (different bodykit). Maybe it's a 935 K3 (own construction by Kremer). The 240Z is a 1973 Nissan Fairlady 240Z-G GTS-II.

You could also add these cars:
Ford GT LM GTE

Really hope they separate the GT3's and the GTE's this time around. If they manage to make a save/resume feature work Le Mans alone will make me happy.

I just worry about how well optimised this title is going to be this time around for AMD users, especially with Ryzen and Vega due over the next coming months.

If the release and level of performance is the same this time around for PCars 2 as it was for PCars 1 for those on AMD hardware, especially with more potentially moving over to AMD in coming weeks/months as Ryzen and Vega become available.

I just hope we don't see a need once again for a series of performance patches and months of optimisation to make it playable as was the case with PCars 1.
