There's two pieces of news for Project Cars fans, one good, the other not so much. SMS have revealed the 'Ruapuna Expansion Pack', containing three Audi cars and a new circuit, and have officially cancelled the Wii U version of the game.
The good news first. Slightly Mad Studios has published a new expansion for the game, titled the Audi Ruapuna Expansion Pack. As you can probably guess from the name, the DLC contains three new Audi cars and the New Zealand circuit of Ruapuna.
The cars included are the R18 e-tron Quattro, the R8 LMP900, and the classic 90 IMSA GTO - along with the bonus A1 Quattro which is free for everybody.
Now for the bad news. It seems that Project Cars will not see the light of day on Wii U.
The Wii U version has been definitely canned, and according to a statement creative director Andy Tudor has issued to Gamespot, the team is now waiting on new hardware announcements from Nintendo.
"Despite much perseverance on the Wii U version of Project Cars, we will no longer be actively pursuing development on it as the quality does not meet our own high standards nor our intended vision for the title on this platform [...] apologies to our Nintendo fans out there that have been waiting for further news on this but we have no desire to release a product that isn’t at the very least comparable with our highest-rated versions on other platforms", reads the statement.
