PS5 triggers only registering as buttons in the options

I reinstalled GTR2 as it's still a great game but I now use a PS5 controller rather the Xbox controller.

However when I tried to define the controller for accel and brake it picks up the button press that windows registers rather than the axis.
I've tried to do it through 360 emulator and steam settings but it always defaults to the button press.

Is anyone out there know how to get it to register the axis rather than the button press?

Yes, you can do it by manually editing the PLR file for your profile and assigning the correct axis. I had the same issue with PS4 controller.
