Question about modifying other peoples mods

Please excuse my ignorance, but I wanted to get some peoples opinion on something modding related. I run a small YouTube channel with sim racing content, and a subset of my videos involve me modifying other peoples mods, for example F1 cars, but I go into the car files and double the grip, increase the power, etc. My question is, where do I stand regarding sharing these mods with my viewers? If I were to instruct viewers to download the original mod from the original source, and I was to only provide them with the modified data file for them to replace the original data file, would that be acceptable, or frowned upon?

Also does any of the above change if I was to do this through buymeacoffee, giving people the option to donate a small amount to me if they wanted to.

I have no clue if this is allowed, frowned upon or outright not allowed, which is why I've come here for advice.

All thoughts and opinions are appreciated. I haven't include the channel name as this isn't an attempt at self promotion.

Cheers

As long as you are not distributing someone else' files there is usually no problem; so you can post instructions for tweaking a mod, but if your tweaks entail uploading the original files that you have modified it is STRONGLY suggested that you get permission first (in fact many sites will not accept such a mod without that permission).

And under no circumstances do you profit from someone else' work, even if just "donations".

For what you are doing I suggest just posting a list of the edits you've made, with a description of what you did and why.
Keep it simple: open this file, change the line "This=1.622" to "This=1.987", etc.; now you are just providing information.
