In other news Sector3 have confirmed the next update will bring R3E full integration into the Steam platform, bringing changes to the way the game handles player accounts. Full details can be read in the official Sector3 statement below:

"We are preparing for an update that will go live in just a few weeks. There is one important change that we need to notify you guys about.

The upcoming update will change the way we handle player accounts. RaceRoom Racing Experience will fully integrate with Steam and players will no longer have to go through a registration form or have to use an email and password for login.

After the update new players will get an account generated automatically with their Steam and existing players will login with Steam automatically instead of using email and password.

This change requires that the existing accounts have logged in to the game at least once so that their account has been associated/linked to their Steam. Please note it is not enough to log in to our portal via a web browser.

Another change due to this update is that the "Switch Account" option in the account settings will no longer be available. This option was allowing players to "de-associate" their accounts so they could use the same R3E account with another Steam account. This will no longer be possible. If you are a player who were using this option, please make sure you are associated with the account you want to keep by June 14th."

they are not fully intigrating with steam... they are just using steam's log in service. players will still have a separate raceroom name and the store will still remain as it was.
they meant that the game will only be launched through Steam, the separate raceroom name you say has no meaning really.

Account's been linked (bought DTM15 through Steam rather than 'Store' once), so no worries there. I don't mind the 'DRM ish teh evilel' mindset of others (don't even care honestly), I've had a hassle-free experience overall coming from consoles.

I am kinda holding-out for a mini-sale or something, interested in getting the Nord', but seeing how $10-ish got me the track and 10 cars in AC, $10-ish for 1 track (of 4 layouts admittedly) in R3E is.... idunno. :speechless:

They should make it possible to buy credit via Steam so we can use it in their store, would give them some more control on discounts and packages IMO.

This would be great, but I doubt it'd happen. I'm happy they're updating these track packs though, an extra £5 for me to add Salzburgring, Nords and Spa is a solid deal. Surely there'd be an Asian track pack due sometime? Macau, Shanghai, Suzuka and Buriram would work rather nicely for that.
