Radeon RX6000

Looks like they did it! squared upto the 3080 and the 3090 and smashed the 3070. Obviously wait for real benchmarks to confirm what they presented, but seriously impressive comeback.

6800 16gb 250w $579 18% faster than 2080ti (and 3070)
6800xt 16gb 300w $649 matches the 3080.
6900xt 16gb 300w $999 matches the 3090.

6900xt matching the 3090 using 300w though which is insane, oh jeez, what's Nvidia gonna do about that? It'll beat a notional 3080ti with 12gb based on 8nm.

They have to go 7nm now.

Pretty sure 3070 price will drop tomorrow.

There be competition now. Waiting for the reviews to see if the 6800 XT will perform well out in the wild and be a viable option to my ordered and yet to be received 3080.

Shall be interesting to learn more about the 60XX/50XX combo benefits from reviewers also.

I did notice that the 6900 v 3090 comparison graph Included Smart Access Memory which you you would need a 5000 series cpu and feature ready board to use AND (Grrr) Rage mode which will vary from card to card/thermal situation. I don't think that the 3090's crown is in any danger. The other cards are more interesting though.

Really? I don't think upgrading to a 5000 series CPU is an issue when you are spending that much. I mean sure lets see how they perform on a 10900k system first. But I'd have no problem spending £1400, instead of £1800 on a 3090 and a new power supply especially if its faster in what I use it for.

Do we know when reviews are likely for the 6090?

Nov 18th for 6800 and 6800xt, December 8th for 6900xt i.e. around just before those dates.

From AMD presented benchmarks.
Close call on performance, same price, NVidia historically having better drivers. No brainer?

A large portion of people looking at this current GPU situation with upgrading in mind will have PCs with several year old CPUs. They know that buying a 3080/3090 would need teamed up with a higher end or more recent CPU as well.

Its going to be an easy decision for lots of people to now consider a new AMD based PC. For many the extra price of the 3090 was not worth the price hike over the 3080. The 6900XT is considerably cheaper, smaller and efficient, even if it too has limited additional performance over what will be the more popular 6800XT offers.

It appears finally we have serious competition in the gaming PC arena again.

AMD just need to have decent stocks. Also with both new consoles using AMD then many games studios surely now will not have driver/issues with AMD technologies?

Also dont rule out the 16GB and fact that 3080 prices are well above 6800XT listed price.

I am curious how AMD top system will compare in a title like MS Flight Sim with Intel/Nvidia
There is also the VR performance aspect and performance with Sim titles.

All comes down to stock for me. I've already cancelled a 3080 pre-order because I didn't want the retailer having my money in their bank account with no guaranteed delivery date. If AMD have sufficient stock I'll jump to Team Red and then I'll go Ryzen when it's time to upgrade my i7-8700K

Will need to see real-world simracing benchmarks and cards in stock before _I_ can make a purchase, but it is heartening to see the gap closed. Too bad that realistically this means January or later for me unless the 3090s start appearing out of thin air before then.
