Rally - "Ageless Escort" - Mon 21st February & Tues 22nd February 2011

Ignoring Warren's advice i jumped into the session without even one try with this car and got a shock of my life. I was expecting something on the lines of the other escort we drove a few months ago, not THIS :D. WHAT A CAR:cool::):). Unbelievable FUN. So easy to go sideways i couldn't help myself to keep up the speed. Too many spins on almost every stage but oh boy, i could do that all night long :D :D. And for the first time i've enjoyed driving on tarmac with this sim, WHAT A DIFFERENCE :) :). PLEASE, can we have more of this in future club rallies :D.

Holy schnitzel that was fun! Surprised myself with how well the car was driving, only bit me with a tank slapper in the last right-left on Hualapai Nation and a minor off on Sipirkakim.

I agree with Dariusz, this car needs to get used more often :D

Lots of fun even though SS1 was a nightmare. SS7 I got off and thought I could get back on, I could see the gravel but could not get there, so eventually I did what I should have done right away - CFH.

Woooo, what a rally!

When I first drove the car around Friday I was pretty much set on giving signing out and giving this a miss. Car actually felt broken to me - but turns out it just needed a little acclimatization :)

Ended up probably being my best run on a rally to date, particularly in the second half of stages. Two snowbank CFHs on SS1 and caught out by that dodgy pacenote on SS8 meant a CFH stuck inches from the road, otherwise a clean and tidy jaunt - and I even won my sessions SS4, though I doubt I'll get it overall.

Ace car that just flows once you get in the groove - cheers Warren!

just want to share my thoughts yesterday, about a rally club event that is a "triathlon" like, I mean lets say 6stages:
ss1-2 = awd
ss3-4 = fwd
ss5-6 = rwd

but I think rscenter public session only allows to choose 1 pack or all pack of cars, like that its gonna be difficult to have an event like this because some may forgot to change car in the next stage :D

---

now my report in this rally

ss1- like what I said rofl stage should really stay inside the track or else something bad is gonna happen

ss2- a bit good I was cautious at the 2right with the rock on the apex

ss3,4,5 - was having fun with the car!

ss6- like the RB tribute I hit the same camera man on the same spot and near the end kill a lot of spectators LOL!

ss7- I'm surprise to finish the stage with no drama and love the mk2 driving on that stage :)

ss8- overshoot a corner and the car can't drive back in my mind ..ahh just like the honda :D still enjoy the car until the finish line

and I got to mention good job Lukasz with one retired stage but climb up like a champion! impressive :D

again thank you to the organizers!

That's not gone well for me: one retirement and a few CFH. But that was obviously going to happen with absolitely zero practice.

But at least the car was a lot more fun than I expected, I would definitely be in if we have more of those RWD later. Maybe with more tarmac stages because I really loved SS8 today.

Well I had a ball. Firstly because I LOVE this car, second because I drove well, and thirdly because Warren and I were having a great battle.

SS1 - Good time, no mistakes untill the last 100m but didn't REALLY loose any time
SS2 - Almost lost it again with 100m to go. I have never seen that last road before. Almost over shot the chicane into the finish
SS3 - Not the neatest I've been but overall a good stage
Up until here I had won each stage and had a lead of about 7 seconds
SS4 - I really don't like Mineshaft 2. I made an error ealy in the stage and lost maybe 5 seconds, pushed for the second section and took 1 sec of Warren so i thought I would really go for it in the last. Warren Took 10 seconds out of me....................................HUH? Great drive by Him though.
SS5&6 - only little mistakes but still cost me 30 secs to Warren. He's on a roll.
SS7 - Warren and Damien both seam to think I am some sort of master at Nioker. Don't know why. I rolled at the first junction then just went for it for the rest of the stage. Tried to hard a couple of times but brought it home. Lost another 3 secs to Warren. I guess I wont beat him now.
SS8 - Good clean run on the tarmac. No mistakes. But Warren had BIG issues. I ended up beating him, not that I think I really deserved it tonight.

I had some good stages but overall Warren drove GREAT. Cudos to you mate.

Now, F2000 next week?;)

Wow, what an experience this car was. I likened it to riding the bull at a rodeo, you hang on for grim death, enjoy the ride, and hope (wait) for it to throw you off.
What a ride and what a ton of fun. :D
I think that with some practice, I could really get to love this Escort.

Was taking things as safely as I could, trying to get a feel for the car and stay out of trouble. After 3 Stages I was only a few seconds behind Rick, and half way around Mineshaft II, I thought "what the hell, give it some humpty and see what happens".
It was going great, even started pulling a reasonable gap to Rick and had him sweating. :)

Sadly, on the last Stage, I threw it all away. Going around the opening right hander, I put a wheel on the inside grass, and for some reason, it rolled badly into the bush. After a CFH, the car must have been badly damaged somehow, it seemed to have a badly slipping clutch, and just kept revving and dying. So I drove the whole last stage at snails pace, even though I had my foot hard to the floor. Somehow it made it to the end but I had dropped about 1.15 min. Oops!!

Grats to Rick for the Oceania win, but at least I had him a tad worried for a while.

Thanks to Damien and Rick for the TS chatting.

We'll definitely have to run this car again, the fun factor is great once you get used to it. :)

It was wonderful to drive this car in these conditions & stages, I mean crappy:p

Couldn't start the first stage, as I was late login due to crappy internet connection at the right moment!

Other stages were fun with atleast one roll in every stage & a few CFH's! Literally enjoyed the drive with this RWD, which is more fun to drive than the FWD cars!

and I got to mention good job Lukasz with one retired stage but climb up like a champion! impressive :D
Well, not really, I was still dangling near the end, just didn't give up because of that (wasn't the fastest one either) :p. Thanks though.

Triathlon idea sounds interesting, but isn't it too rapidly changing cars? I know we could make this a pattern, AWD - RWD - League - AWD - FWD (loop) ;). Of course I'd rather see RWD--AWD-RDRC-RWD-FWD-RDRC (repeat), but it's just me ;).

Also I'm thinking about joining the EUX too, just for scientific purposes (and maybe after a one or two practice snow runs, as I'm really unfamiliar with surface, even more than tarmac). Should be fun to race with Senad and Ondrej too.
