Rally Question

Since getting into sim racing, i have noticed there is a lot of rally type stuff floating around the web various cars and stages, but what im wondering is how can one use these mods effectively as there dosen't really seem to be a rally type mode in the game like there is say Codemasters Dirt Rally???

I think they're mainly just for hot lapping or having fun, there's no actual rally mode per se in AC.
