RD iRacing Driver Number Registrations (Please Read First Post)

As you will no doubt be aware by now that iRacing now allows members to choose a preferred number for their car. This can be done by clicking on the 'myRACING' link in the main menu on the official member site then selecting 'Customize Car(s)' in the drop down menu and then under the number font selection for each car is a text entry to enter your preferred racing number (two digits). For future RD events we will support this feature so we are now asking drivers who have taken part in previous events and leagues to submit their chosen number if they have one.

Numbers 1, 2, and 3 will be reserved for use in RD events by the top three finishers in an RD league series starting with the top three championship drivers in the Star Mazda league. If those drivers choose to stick with their own chosen number then numbers 1,2 or 3 will remain un-used. Once a new series finishes then the previous seasons drivers holding the numbers 1,2 or 3 who have not finished in the top three places in the championship will relinquish those numbers.

Please show consideration to your other RaceDepartment members, if you don't wish to use a preferred number of don't intend on taking part in future events please do not reserve a number. Should we feel a driver has become inactive as a racing club member that drivers number may be released for other active drivers to choose for their car, we will make every effort to contact a driver before we do this.

It;s much easier to just chesk the spreadsheet and enter your name against the chosen number. Also save Will the job of updating!

Thierry's #18 is good.

I've made whole list by numbers with driver who had applied for this.

Another thing... i've seen that still big amount of drivers dont have any numbers preferred, so when they enter they get like numbers that are "already taken". so when someone else who is on the list with its number cant have it (maybe i've seen something wrong, i dont make it as statement, just as what i think i've seen)

EDIT: Updated with Norman Bruce

Valid point Marko makes.

Whilst it's not a 'show stopper' as they say, I think we either go with preferred numbers or we don't.

No point having folks requesting a preferred number like say 5, 8 or 11 only to turn up in hosted session and find a handful of racers who don't have a preferred number, effectively being allotted someone else's number. Makes having a preferred number pointless (unless your preferred number is 40 or higher), as presently we don't get that many racers in an online session and some tracks are limited to the number of pit stalls we can use, so its highly unlikely numbers of 40 or higher will ever be assigned by the server.

I appreciate those coming late to the RD iRacing Club/League my find their 'preferred' number already chosen by someone else but its not too hard picking an alternative surely, as it has to be a first come first served rule where preferred numbers are concerned.

Maybe we add it as a stipulation for Club/League races that preferred numbers are mandatory, otherwise scrap them all together.

Just my twopenneth, lol.

Wowzer.

All these folks signing up for a preferred number. Be interesting to see the entries in the 1st of the new leagues when they are announced. With all these members, surely we will get some good turnouts and not just have to rely on the same 15 or so 'regulars'.

Indeed Daz. It's great that we have RD iRacers reserved preferred driver numbers for future RD League / Club events. Seems like we are having alot of interest lately and that is always great to see. With a bunch of Club events planned for the summer would be great to see some of the new RD iRacers join us on the grid for some fun racing. Let's start filling up these grids guys :)

Stay tuned on upcoming RDiR event news which will be announced soon :)

As for the usage of RD preferred numbers, looks like we could just think about using them for RD Leagues as some do use their number and some do not. This is still to be discussed by Staff. If you have a number reserved please use them when joining RD events. :)

Gee-whizz.

Why can't some folks read the first post before requesting a number. Surely its not that hard to do.

Saves making a wasted post and also giving the Admin's unnecessary work.

C'mon guys, make an effort.
