Introduction

Welcome to the the second running of the RaceDepartment Indy 500 in iRacing. Last season saw a huge turn-out of drivers that gathered to pick up the virtual bottle of milk. Lots of crashes painted the picture of the first half of the race; close fighting dominated the second half. This year we're looking to go bigger and better than last year, so go get that FREE RaceDepartment Licensed Membership and sign-up for this annual high-speed thrill!

Really looking forward to this week :D My setups are so unorganized it's sad, but I've got two weeks to figure them all out. I'll edit this post with some stats on times later on, but I know times for qualifying so I'll post them below.

Qualifying Times: Low 29.6's are what I'm hitting currently, if you're a pro like Ray Alfala you'll hit low 29.4's but I've got no idea how people have done that. I expect pole to be 29.6 maybe 29.5 depending if we hit our lap correctly.

Race Times: First lap I can hit 29.9's but 30.0 - 30.1 are more common. Haven't worked on this too much so I'll edit these later to see if I can go faster. I know pros can hit low 29.7's but that's just insane.

Was a great Race for me until we came to Lap 83. Until then I thought, 3rd Place must be possible. Then I was caught up in an accident of the #15 and #30 (I think) and had to take the Fast-Repair. So because I made my Gren-Stop a few Laps before the Accident, i was 3 Laps down at that Moment, so no chance to go to the Podium any more. :( Bad End for me with just 8th Place.

No, but they've always tweaked things, adding or removing details from the setup sheet and slightly changing the balance of the car. Sometimes it meant your setups went useless, sometimes it meant just a few little tweaks on our end.

Just to add onto Yoeri's comments, I've checked the forums and there's no known planned changes to the tyres model or stuff like that. There's a couple cars they're adding the NTM to but not a universal change. The big "update" this build is the addition of the new shader models on some tracks like Spa and Watkins Glen.

Your setups should be safe presuming what people say are true.

It's similar to Charlotte, full throttle until the corners where you go about half throttle. Later on in runs you'll have to let off though.

Unfortunately I might have to miss this race too :( It's my wrap-up day for baseball so I might have a game at that time, if not I'll most likely be working since I work at the diamonds setting up fields. I'll let you know though.

Well sure as s**t just like at the beginning of every season without notice they mess up our old setups... goodbye endless hours of work. The truck on Texas is now impossible to drive with endless oversteer and it took me 10 tries with the setup iRacing provided just to complete a lap. Hopefully they didn't mess up every other car.
