With the season halfway over in the RD GT Championship, scoring big points is becoming more and more important. Silverstone is a key track for all cars, as no car has a particularly great advantage over another, so an especially exciting race for the win is in store.
FinnTeam looked extremely strong at Brands Hatch where Audi driver Tuomas Tähtelä took the whole field to school by taking the win, pole and fastest lap and lapping the whole field up to 4th place. A dominating drive for the team was rounded out by Sakke Leponiemi's second place that was only in some danger when he and Geoffrey Tassenoy collided halfway into the race. Erhan Jajovski tried to take the fight to the Finns, but could not keep them in check with his Ferrari.
If the FinnTeam Audi's finish as high as they have previously, it would ensure the overall win in the teams championship in only the fourth round. The biggest danger for spoiling the party came from Erhan Jajovski (SpeedyMite Ferrari), Stelios Fevgatos (Stay Puft! Nissan) and Geoffroy Tassenoy (TDR Nissan) in previous rounds and they will continue to try to spoil FinnTeam's party in Silverstone. It also seems like the McLaren's would like a word as their superior aerodynamics could be an advantage in the sweeping corners of Silverstone.
Who will take it on Saturday? Nobody can tell at this point. The Finns have made a strong case for themselves previously but there is no clear favourite at this point so excitement is in store.
