Recommend me a USB hub

I keep getting disconnects of my pedals, and when it does it makes my VR HMD stutter.
I 'think' it may be my USB hub as its just a cheap one I have had for years and the power lead is dodgy on it too. I have connected to it, my Fanatec pedals (and handbrake, via the pedals), my H shifter, my SFX100 motion rig and my AF v2 wheel.
What USB hubs do people recommend?
I need at least 4 ports and would need for it to have either a long (1.5 - 2mtr) lead or a removable lead.

I've been using a Ugreen 7 port hub which has been problem free for me. It only comes with a 1 metre cable so I had to add a separate 2 metre cable to the order.

One thing to note is that you have to power it on and off manually via a momentary switch as it doesn't automatically switch itself on or off.

I've had really good luck with this hub as well. Everything works reliably and has for the last half year.

And also a 2mtr shielded USB lead.
I have not had any disconnects or dropouts so far, so happy with my choice.

Sorry for my ignorance, but why are you using powered USB-hubs?
Appliances needing lots of juice, like mobile charging and the like?
Normally USB 2.0 can deliver 0.5A at 5V.

Just wondering, since I use a hub with long cable without powering it separately and didn't have any problems so far connecting belt-driven wheel, pedals and a nextion display.
Would I need a powered one for, say a DD-wheel? :cautious:

Cheers

The reason I got my powered hub was that when it is turned on, it powers up each of the 7 ports one by one with a short delay between each.

The one I had previously didn't have that smart feature, which would cause my PC to get stuck at the bios screen due to (I believe) everything powering up at once and trying to communicate simultaneously with my motherboard.

After a bit of research I found that people were advising to go for one that has a decent chipset with some built in intelligence and the ability to deliver a little more power per port (900ma) in my case.

From what I read, it can be a bit of a lottery when trying to find which usb hub chipset plays nicely with which motherboard so it can ultimately be a shot in the dark, where a hub that's works great with my MB might not work well at all with yours etc

Generally, I think if you go for a hub from one of the reputable brands like the ones mentioned in this thread you will have more luck than not.

I am using it to run my motion rig from so have my AF V2 DD wheel, Fanatec pedals and SFX100 motion rig (which requires a powered USB for the Arduino).

I also had issues with my old one and Windows locking up when starting.
