Renault Alpine A110 1600 S - Andersson / Sanremo 1971 - Renault Alpine A110 1600 S 1971 white red stripes andersson

Alpine brought out in 1969 a white and red stripes edition of its A110 1600, in homage to the French ski's team of the Olympics Games at Grenoble, unwound in 1968 and when France will end 3rd.
Almost 3 years later, Ove Andersson takes away the rally of Italy (Sanremo-Sestrières) aboard one of these Alpine serial limited.

Hmmm...I heard that they put Andersson in a white car because blue is the national colour of a French car and Andersson not being French they wanted to distract attention from him. they really wanted Therier or another French driver to win.
 
I have never understood spoken about this history. But it would not surprise me.

In France, we are very attached to this kind of thing, that a French pilot wins the French rally on a French car^^
