rFactor 2: more Palm Beach previews

Image Space Incorporated have revealed, via their rFactor 2 Track Team, yet more previews of the upcoming Palm Beach International Raceway update due to be added to the game in the very near future.

As detailed in our previous preview article, it looks like the team over at ISI have been hard at work bringing some fine details to this enjoyable rFactor 2 circuit. The quality of the screenshots and frequency of which they have been released leads one to believe release of this "version 2" track update must not be far away now.

ISI have been hard at work in these last few months updating the sim with new builds and Third Party Affiliate (3PA) content, however the studio are not forgetting to bring enhancements to the more mature items previously released for the simulation. Palm Beach International was one of the earliest releases for rFactor 2 and had fallen behind in the visual department in light of some of the more recent releases. A bit of a favourite layout for many fans, the upcoming update will be a welcome addition to the sim and progress to date looks highly promising.

No firm release date for the update has been announced by the studio, however keep an eye out on RaceDepartment rFactor 2 forum for news about this and other rFactor 2 related topics as and when they break!

While we may not have animated pit crews, there are some nice animated birds in the paddock, along with crumbling asphalt, LOL. The dragstrip is there (the funky building pictured above is the starting tower) and you can get to it, but no start lights/timing/AIW. Night lighting if you want a night race.

And framerates are very good.

...you missed the red and blue toilette too!!!The perfect place to simulate some drag on the slips...

I still remember a couple of posts where I was punished for asking a better pubblic stand model near the tracks...rF2 team posts a toilette as part of the new settings...and all are like "wow"!!!

We are all happy for some ducks, a toilette, a fence, a bus stop and similar stuff!!!
This is 2016...a track with proper surroundings shouldn't be a news!!!

Haven't raced rF2 much lately, been mostly flight sim'ing with my little free time but of course have to try anything new or updated. Have to reiterate, rF2 has the best AI by far (AMS good, the rest iffy) in my opinion - had a fantastic race on the updated Palm Beach! I forgot how good the AI can be to race against. Nice track, great racing (URD ETG class).

but the racing experience around these fresh add-ons in rF2 alone is worth every bit ... and they have real lights, day and night, etc. and the most advanced physics modelling so far ... AMS is rF1 something? AC just stepped up from tyre model 7 to 10 - I think now I must smell rubber when pushing over the limits - not to speak about light oder day/night modelling ;)

Wait, I am not sayng this!rF2 is a great sim if not the best in some areas, I agree with you about that. The real pain from my point of view is the way ISI promote it. Seems like a dead horse transformed...well...in a zombie horse?
After years of nothing they try to push the sim back on the scene posting track toilettes and ducks?Really?
There are a lot of things they can do for this sim, like the examples below:
- bring all the rF fantasy cars and port them to rF2 with improved 3D model or evolved in shape, can be used as base content for players and physics study model for modders
- bring all the rf tracks back to rF2. not just a port like Montreal, give it the quality of the last tacks!
- release licensed content as well packed free dlc (like a renault pack with clio, megane and formula or a nissan pack), not workshop items, newcomers will appreciate this (just a marketing move) because free dlc is more attactive than workshop item...
Hope is clear now why I am so angry with them...

Get a few differently performing cars from the same category and a few tracks that make up its calendar, especially 1967-1991 GT or open-wheel.
 
rF2 in Unreal Engine 4, without compromising the physics of course, what a dream that'd be.
I'm always so close from buying it and then I see screenshots... nope.
Well if you are one of those that just likes pretty graphics, Pcars and the Codies F1 series will do you just fine.
I use RF2 for it's sublime un-matched physics and brilliant AI racing. And I think the graphics are just fine too.

Nah, I like immersion and realism, rF2 just cannot immerse me. pCARS is actually a really good game, but they effed up the pad support and I need to use a controller because of my disability. The F1 games from Codemasters feel like crap and aren't that great looking either.

For me, Assetto Corsa hit the sweetspot. If they could add some more racing atmosphere and weather plus day night cycle... won't happen, but everything has its flaws.

Anyway, I'd never say something against rF2's physics, but the graphics are so poor for current standards, it's just sad and for me, it ruins the whole game. The audio is also lackluster.

I "use" to be like you... graphics were the first thing on my requirement list (also "almost" passed up SCE/AMS) and I do like the graphics in AC and pCARS. I understand, but, when I race the AI in AC I loose the immersion within a lap or so. In rF2, when I first loaded up the new version of Palm Beach I was expecting a little more... but then I got so caught up in a good race and FFB I didn't notice a little less than next gen graphics (but their still pretty good when properly configured). To each their own.
DISCLAIMER: Not saying one game is better than the other. Only my preferences ;)

It's not the first thing on my list, but it's important. Same goes for the audio.
Anyway, I don't get all the negativity regarding AC's AI, I generally have amazing races.
For me immersion is better with good AI racing first and foremost. (Impossible in AC as widely known to have possibly the worst AI coding ever), then FFB so that you can feel what happening with your tyres and your car. Then Damage and how it affects your car etc. Then the physics of how your car behaves. Then pitstops/strategy etc. Then the audio. Then pretty graphics.
