Quite the coup for rFactor 2 to host a race featuring Alonso, Button, Montoya, Salo, Franchitti, Monteiro, Castroneves, Liuzzi and many, many others.

Is it just because they have the Zandvoort track?

The sim looks really awful in the coverage, with dead spectators all over the place and ridiculous helicopter cameras complete with **** sound effects. Seems like a lost opportunity for the better sims and for sim racing in general, during a time when sim racing is literally in the newspapers. The framerate in the live feed was godawful too, it looked like a sim from 20 years ago.

Kunos should be at the front of this, they are leagues ahead of rFactor 2. Where are their marketing department? They should be supplying a free copy of Assetto Corsa with every 2020 track to all these guys as soon as possible. A real missed chance.

It's not too late. ACC should stage a full weather and time adjusted 6 hour Nordscheife for charities of the driver's choice. Get all these guys to sign up, team up and get it on tv.

ACC doesn't have Nordschleife, so it would be a pretty boring 6 hours...

It has nothing to do with Zandvoort, they have been running this series since the lockdown started and had Vettel onboard a couple of weeks ago. This is what you get when you put the effort into creating a good series, do lots of social media and feature your star drivers on broadcasts. rF2 is less relevant itself in this success, although it has proven to work well as a platform for these sort of events.

They had lag issues in the first race, other than that I saw no FPS problems, stream was 60 FPS. I don't fully agree with the big deal on graphics, people play all sorts of esports games that have average graphics at best, CS:GO etc, but for some reason all sim racing followers are super obsessed about graphics. In this case it's more the track itself that is the problem, some tracks do look better than this. The sound effect from crashing cars (which can be heard from miles away with no attenuation) is annoying indeed.

Kunos has only got a GT3 platform available and a game they no longer support (AC1), this is the problem with them. These sort of three-in-one events are a bit difficult to arrange with just GT cars. I find the races with historic cars actually more interesting to follow.

They are. ACC is used in several leagues with real drivers and simracing Aliens, including the official SRO eSports GT Series (eSRO):

There's also the GT Rivals series and the eRace 4 Care series, and several one-off endurance events like the 12H of Suzuka that was held in April.

I think you find professional drivers don't care about visuals , audio , UI, VR etc half as much as the care
about feedback they get from vehicle tyres and terrain
