Shadowplay Recording in VR

How do I save\record using Shadowplay while playing in VR, just been trying it with Rift but nothing was saved when pressing the button, I'm guessing I maybe have to mirror the Rift output to main monitor to record?

Question also applies to AC, DiRT Rally\4 and PC 1 & 2 if they are any different.

I know it doesn't really answer your question (Andrew's link does) but have you considered trying OBS? You can set it to record from various outputs even if it isn't your primary, so setting it to record your VR headset is a breeze.
