SHH Shifter

Value for money shifter. A friend of mine owns it and its decent, much much better than logitech's and much more practical than th8a/rs because you can go from seq to h-mode with a flick if a switch.

I do own the th8rs, its more robust and modable to a great extend. With my mods I really really like it. Without them not that much. Same feeling I guess with the hss. But I only use it in h mode solely because its very difficult to change between modes, and seq mode is very bad imho.

No opinion on the css. Tried it int he past but much more expensive to compare..

From factory CSS I'd say , but AFTER modding I really really do enjoy my TH8RS as well. I did the ball plunger mod which in th8a does require threading the second hole , and also install super hard spring plungers , (60N minimum , 100N max). Now it really shines. I mean I do enjoy every gear change.
Can't you fix the css? What's the problem?

the stick was getting wobbly again,
makingi t not register shifts in 2,4 or 6th
a problem that I tried to solve following this link:
http://www.mockracer.com/2014/12/fanatec-clubsport-shifter-twist-fix.html

but he had the 1.0 version instead of 1.5 version I have
the last step was unscrewing a bolt in the internals
which wasn't there on my version so I couldn't open it
anyway so sick of it (although it was decent when it worked)

I am actually waiting for Heusinkveld to release their H-shifter but they told me not to expect it anytime soon
that's why I am looking for an in between solution

Well, my mods do void warranty and need you to be comfortable with mechanical interventions. But there is also the 3drap.it mod which has a good reputation.
So can only express my opinion on the th8, decent, modable and durable. But if you plan on upgrading to a much better like heusinkvelt...maybe shh is a good choice

I've had my SHH or two years or thereabouts, very good shifter mainly used in Sequential and not yet broken or failing badly. I did have a small issue with with a custom Knob (ooeerr!) that was bending the Shaft so I had to buy an extended Knob (steady!) which now fits further down the shaft thus preventing bending....this is getting too much!

My SHH is also one of the earlier variants, they've since updated various areas of the shifter to make it more robust and remove some of the "clicking" when sequential shifting, I may upgrade to a later one in the future but for now this one is working perfectly well, also a Dev of a well known Sim uses one.

I had no idea about this and I'm in Spain! Have been looking for a realistically priced H shifter for a while and think this would be ideal for my rig. Will order when they're back from holiday :)

Wow, thank you guys for that interesting info :)

I will purchase it as soon as they come back too. By the way, apparently they accept orders even now, maybe I will the order now that I have some money, I am not in a hurry, I can wait :)

Thanks again

How is the SHH gate? I need to replace my G25 shifter soon before 5th dies completely, and it's like driving an old transit trying to fish for the right gear sometimes. The CSS seems pretty positive & I tend to buy kit that I won't want to upgrade every year, but from rep & experience I'm dubious of their QC & I'd have to get the USB adapter on top, which just annoys me. If it's miles ahead on feel in use I'd give it some real thought though.

First of all I have the th8rs, not th8a. The th8rs has both holes threaded whereas the th8a only has the one where the tightening ball plunger is. But you can thread it yourself. Then you need two heavy spring plungers. Heavy as in 60N min, 100N max pressure.
If you put a lighter one it doesnt really make a difference.
Then I drilled a bit more the holes on the plate where the pressure is applied, but that was before getting the strong plungers. Maybe its not necessary.
Also with an M6 rod I shortened the shift (instead of getting a short shift plate that cancels the plunger lock) and added an aftermarket knob.
Unfortunately I'm on vacation and cannot provide pictures. Hope I described it in a way that is easy to understand.

I also abuse an SHH 7R, early 2016 version, upgraded from a G27 shifter. Still rock solid, switching between H and seq is quick and easy (turn the lever, flick the switch), works with everything I throw at it.

Had a strangely faulty one at first, there was a ghost in the electronics that made it do random switches. Quick FB chat with Aritz (who builds these), checked on the symptoms and he sent me another batch of electronics plus an extra gate in a glimpse.

As others said, it's amazing value for money, if you don't mind the 3D printed build. ;)

I would say that it is plug & play according with the screenshot I have included

Finally got round to ordering my SHH which turned up yesterday (4 working days from ordering which was impressive!).

For balance, my only other experience of H shifters was a G27 and a FREX. In comparison to the G27 it is leagues better, very positive, sturdy and feels like it would survive a nuclear attack. The FREX shifter was impressive to look at but really hard to get on with, was pretty random as to what gears you would get and I tended not to ever use it.

The SHH is a revelation, no idea how they can produce something that works so well so cheaply. The 3D printed finish isn't to everyone's taste but my cockpit is tucked away in a corner so it's not something I stare at lovingly. It is well packed and comes with all the screws, brackets and allen keys you need. Screw it to the cockpit, plug into PC and you've off (with a bit of assigning in AC anyway)

The action is precise with a good weight to it, making gear shifts positive and reassuring. I spent five hours last night, just going up and down Transfagarasan in an RS1600 Escort (AC), within five minutes completely at home with the gate and zero bad shifts. I normally can't stand these older manual cars in AC using a paddle-shift but add in a clutch and H gate and the whole thing comes to life. It completely adds another dimension and makes the whole sim feel much very like my own experiences of "enthusiastically" driving a mountain road in real life

Enough hyperbole anyway, just get one.. you won't regret it!

I plan on getting a friend of mine a new wheel as a christmas present and now I noticed this thread and the pricing for this looks great... I'm thinking of maybe adding this to the package as he certainly wouldn't mind the looks. Thanks for letting me know of this product via this thread, it looks really interesting for the price.
