Short question about the audio_engine.ini

Hi guys,
I've a short question regarding the audio_engine.ini...what's the default value of the MAX_CHANNELS entry?
I've mine set to 512 atm but don't know if this is the correct/default value or if maybe 1024 is the default value (higher=better?).
