Interesting, I rebuilt a 99 Turbo years ago, it had a modified water injection system injecting methanol. That was also a bit of a monster, I sold it an bought a Jag, nice car but the 99 was way more fun and I have always regretted selling it. I also had a classic 900 Turbo Aero convertible, again, a car I should never have sold. I have another 9-3 Estate as well as the workhorse but I have decided that I am keeping the 9-3 convertible indefinitely after all, I cant buy a new one now....

That 2.8L you have is bullet proof and extremely fast out of the box.
It is even more impressive when coupled to the 6 speed manual.
Is that your combination?
My former Saab co-worker has 280000 miles on his....only major part replaced...an ABS module.
Same everything...'wicked' fast... and getting 23 mpg in combined driving after all that mileage.

1972 BMW 2002tii. I have also owned a 1987 Acura Legend and a 2014 Mini Cooper 'S'. The most fun to drive.... The Mini!! Damn fast w/ @ 240 HP(air intake mod)... unreal power to weight ratio! The Mini was like a go cart with a big engine.

However, I cannot even describe to you how much the wife HATED the Mini...
*Had 6 speed manual... she couldn't drive it :)
*Had the damn run-flat tires which were SO HARD, besides riding hard anyway w/ firm suspension
*Back seat was the size of a match box
*Was terrible on snowy/slippery roads

I only kept the Mini about 2 yrs... she just wore me down w/ the comments & the side-eye...

EDIT... In the interests of full disclosure, this specific pic is not my BMW, I just liked this pic because it shows the model #, and mine was a dark blue. I should get the picture digitized. Mini pic...that is my Mini, oh I miss her.

First thing that has to go on a mini is run flats, makes such a difference... Yokohama AD08R’s are fantastic... mine also runs meth (amongst other mods)... like you say... it’s a street legal go kart!
