Sim Lab P1-X for flying?

Hi,

I have a next level racing (NLR) GTTrack Cockpit simulator with flight controls.

I bought this from a local Microcenter and didn't open it yet.

It looks like the Sim Lab P1-x is a superior product, specifically for racing.

Can the Sim Lab P1-x be "easily" modifiable to support racing and flying? Rudder control and HOTAS support basically, I'm OK with dismounting the racing pedals if I have to.

I want to use either cockpit with NLR's motion V3 platform and a fanatec direct drive podium.

I just bought: Heusinkveld Engineering Sim Racing Sprint Pedals, yesterday. So I want to be sure I'm getting my rig right before waiting for fanatec's Black Friday sales (if there are any).

Thanks for any info!

I have a p1 (not x) and use it for flight as well. It took some trial and error to adjust everything to get both racing and flight equipment in just the right place for me.

I raised the pedaldeck for racing and lowered the rudderpedals, so my feet have just enough space underneath the racingpedals. I leave both sets of pedals on the rig at all times.

Normally I remove the flightstick when I am racing (but leave the throttle on the rig), and remove the steeringwheel when I am flying. But it is not strictly necessary.

Below you see some pictures of how I have done it,

I just built a P1-X and am in love with it. You can do whatever you want with 80/20 and expand you your hearts content. Eigil has a great setup there for both pedal sets but you could also mount each pedal set to a bracket that you could change between. Might take you a little effort to come up with a bracket, but then you could change between either quickly.

I use P1-X for car sim racing and for flight sim (MSFS, DCS, IL-2).
Flight sick was on the side before but now in the middle.
I have attached rudder pedals to the P1-X

I don't have a P1X but another 8020-type rig, but i would not see a reason why the same solutions should not be applicable to any of those.
I have both race and flight gear on the rig including swappable pedal plates for race and rudder pedals as well as a collective and flight throttle that i can slide out of the way to the left, when flying helicopters.

First pictures in flight config. is quite outdated as i have changed the pedal deck to accommodate new pedals as well as having added active belt tensioners since then, but the second one in driving config. is up-to-date.

Only getting in and out of the rig requires a ladder by now :D

My "hybrid" P1X has sliders for pedals & seat, extra mounting point (small) for throttle (just that mounted it's horizontal profile "outside" of it, to clear my very wide bucket seat), second pedal tray (sourceable as P1 upgrade kit) mounted inverted, Thrustmaster HOTAS mount (from which throttle mount mounted "over" mounting point's horizontal profile, but stick's mount "at end" of P1X's horizontal spar). FS rudder mounted below and in front of racesim pedals. When i want to "switch" to FS, i just slide seat back.
Notes:
1) it would be cheaper to have alu profiles attached directly from below of cockpit base (caster wheels or simfeets required to net extra ground clearance), and also more space for rudder between main cockpit spars (50cm vs 47cm in my case, due pedal tray's sideplates. Not only i needed to use MFG's WAP to reduce width, but also slightly swivel pedals with toe-in to clear width wise. Probably just WAP enough if no sideplates of pedaltray);
2) as turned out, it was sufficient to have seat slider only, it's travel is enough, no need for slider for simrace pedals;
3) i added extra corner brackets to extra mounting point on left, and to stock side rail on right, to add rigidity for left-right movement. To my taste SL's HOTAS stick mount still seems a bit too flexy by itself though.

This works for me (see pics) as a first try. Ignore the chaos around the rig :)
I‘m thinking about the rudder pedals. May be underneath the racing pedals?!
