Specification details leaked of Red Bull 2017 VW Engine

David O'Reilly

A bad quali means I can go forwards in the race.
Un-named insiders have disclosed that the F1 "Lithium Inertia Advanced Recovery" concept from VW designed specifically for the Red Bull F1 car has reputedly developed 1100 hp.
It has a designed life of 6 grand Prix between replacements.
Further bench tests have demonstrated its ability to run an entire 305 km Grand Prix on only 80 litres of conventional fuel.

Red Bull are reportedly over the moon with their new "purchase".

Official Factory figures should be used as a guide only. Actual results will vary based upon your driving environment and habits. See web site for latest information. VW reserve the right to update specification without notice.

Seems to be already a lot of controversy about this engine. Both SportAuto and SportMotor say there is something fishy with the emission values after seeing the first engine test reports.

Curious how this will unfold.

They only develop 750hp when being tested by the FIA and get the 1100hp on the track when the limiter is automatically turned off by the onboard computer.
