Steam issue - Game update on endless loop

Hi guys,

Today I tried to fire the game, and for some reason, it said the Exe was missing. I did an integrity check, and now it keeps downloading an update, and then it says "update paused". When then try to start the game, the "update" starts downloading again...

Any clues?

You could try downloading the latest update in rar form and extracting it to steam, maybe that'll break the cycle. not sure, sorry.

I just thinking out load here. Is it possible that an antivirus program (or something) has decided to delete the gsc.exe and is deleting the file each time you download?

I find it very odd that one day the exe was deleted out of the blue.

This is working terribly... I tried reinstalling the game through Steam, and it downloaded everything, but now it says that it needs to download and install everything again...

Gosh!


EDIT: I am not saying this is the reason, but I uninstalled Avast, installed Avira, tried Steam again, and it worked (after downloading everything again).

That's why I use MSE and do a few Spybot scans here and there. Never had problems with them.
