Still worth buying a dk2 for SIM racing?

Hello.

I am thinking of buying a Oculus dk2 for SIM racing. My main game is assetto corsa.

I'm hoping to get some views from folks that are or have been using the Oculus Dev kit 2.

It's fairly cheap used at about £140 on eBay at the moment.

Worth a punt?

Can't comment directly on using the DK2, but having used the CV1 since September '16, all I can say is it's a great experience with Assetto Corsa and other sims (racing and flying). With the DK2 vs CV1, there's not a huge difference in resolution, plus it's fully tracked. So, as is, it'd be a good intro to VR and sim racing.

The bigger issue is on how long Oculus will continue to support the DK2. Not heard/read anything to suggest it'll be dropped anytime soon.

It's a bit of a guess when oculus will pull support for a dk2. I got a new dk2 for £120 on eBay with best offer accepted about 3 months ago and I think it's great. I didn't want to spend the full amount of a cv1 but now after having the dk2, when oculus do pull support for the dk2, I will probably buy the cv1 quite quickly.
It works with all games that the cv1 does, the only thing is the touch controllers won't work with the dk2.

No, do not buy a DK2. This is coming from a DK2 user who then bought a CV1 and will buy a CV3,4,5,6...etc.
resolution is just too low, hell even the CV1 is not that great. I currently run a i7 6700k oc to 4.6, 32BG ram Nvidia 1080 about to switch to the Ti. In most sims you need to lower the detail to achieve the required 90fps and its still no way near as good as my 4k monitor or even running on my 16:10 1920x1200 displays in triples. However I can no longer sim with monitors, I am totally hooked on VR.
