Strange steering when using controller

I use a Thrustmaster GPX gamepad to play ACC, which works great, as it does on Automobilista 2 and AC.
However, in ACC when the car begins to lose grip, the onscreen steering straightens up or goes crazy. Can anyone help to eliminate this annoying glitch? It doesn't happen at all in Assetto Corsa.
