Tablet for virtual dash

What is a sensible size for a tablet when using something like dashmeterpro or sim hub?

I have my eye on a 10" tablet which I would sit either behind the wheel or just to the side of the monitor, if I could find a bracket the I would mount it to the top of the monitor. The tablet I have in mind is from Asus.

Recommendations welcome.

I had a 10-in tablet and a 5.7-in phone available and decided on the 5.7-in phone instead. I'm running DashPanel and that works flawlessly.

It partially depends on what you want to display.

I originally had a 10" tablet attached to my rig, but I found it too small to display everything I wanted but felt too large for my rig and blocked vision to my monitor. So I dropped down to a 7" tablet which I find is a great size for mounting to the physical sim rig, however some of DashMeterPro's displayed numbers are small and hard to read when quickly glancing at the tablet.

Therefore I display large, easy to read data on the tablet and added a 4th monitor detached from the rig to display additional data like lap times etc that was too hard to read on the tablet.

If you don't have a 4th monitor to display additional telemetry then I recommend a 10" tablet so the text is larger and easier to read.

Can’t imagine the size really matters in VR!!! ;):p

All of what you’ve mentioned is what I had been keeping in mind when it came to tablet size. A quick glance at what you can see works a lot better than what you can’t see. So thank you for insight.

Another thing I want to ask is, what apps are you using for your dash. I've tried SimHub and DashMeterPro has been mentioned but what else is out there that is good? Also, I'm playing Race Room but may play other games in the future.

Do any of the dashboard apps work with PS4 ? I run mainly Pcars 1 and GT sport and will be getting AC shortly now that it has come down in price.

The only way Anything like this could work on console is if the game/sim dev coded it in and they just don't as far as I know. This is one of the advantages with PC, mods and programs that can read data and use it in some fashion.

Though it looks like some console versions actually do send out data, not many but the SIM Dashboard Android app mentioned above does support Project Cars 1/2 and Assetto Corsa, and a few others but not GT Sport.

So far we have:
SimHub
Dash Panel
DashMeterPro
Sim Dashboard
I know of SLIMax

Out of that list, which one would you recommend or is there a better alternative that isn't listed?

Also I know some of the above are app (whether it be android or iOS) and some a PC hosted but if you could mention which apps use what then that would be a great help.

Edit: I bought Sim Dashboard, seems to work pretty well fro what I wanted it for.
