the elusive S rating

have been on a short term odyssey of trying to achieve the multi-player S rating. graduating from A to S has been confounding and generally an exercise of futility.
my only league involvement in AMS2 currently are with race department, so yeah public servers.. what a mixed bag, have not seriously online raced in 10yrs after an initial start in the idyllic mid/late '90s with papyrus, gp2-3, rbr etc.
will be nice and not rant, but basic standards have fallen immensely. except for rare instances can expect to be driven through, knocked off or collected in a someone's brain dead unforced error..
those rare instances have been incredible, especially with AMS2s amazing historic content combined with respectful, knowledgeable drivers.
have alternated from trying to put in a scorching hotlap and take off with the front runners or sit out qualifying and start at the back to avoid a very predictable wreckfest at t1/lap1. very much two steps forward and three back in the last month.
so many complain about the a.i. in this sim, i just don't get it.
will keep plugging away, but have tightened the filter to some rated servers and make a serious effort to find a sim-fossil league for AMS2.

I got to A on a mix of RD and public servers. Mainly servers I set up for a few of us here @ RD before the official Tuesday night races started. I managed to get to S eventually ( it took a very long time) just by runnning in the RD races with AMS2. I won't go near public servers now, as the penalty for being collected or bashed about are not worth the pain of losing reputation points. The RD servers are set to rated, so at least you won't suffer too much as you crawl towards an S rating....but it takes for ever.

I have an A too.. AMS2 will give you the reflects of a cat and the patients of the saints. Whenever I race I look out for the magic 4 turn driver who somehow knows every track up to the first 4 turns. There race strat is simple, if they can get to the front of the pack in 4 turns they will sail to an easy victory, so they must jump the start dive bomb every turn and if anyone is in the way simply drive through them. Alas, they have never seen the 5 turn without wrecking so if this would actually work no one is really sure.

am going to take a breather outside of some rated/league stuff and focus on finishing a couple offline seasons- gt1s @100 and stockcar '22. @120. noticed the aggression really varies between series though and i so wish there was a save function and actual endures. i have faith in reiza

Find a consistent driver and follow them closely... The win isn't important here just make sure to be close and don't punt them from the track. S rating was easy this way.

6 races yesterday: CopaB @ Azure - win, GT3s @ Laguna - midpack dodge the spinners, IMSA dpi @ Spielberg - win, CART 2K @ winter VIR - midpack no grip. GrpC @ Jacarapagua - win, GTclassic 911 @ Curitiba - dodge the spinners and h-pattern aloof. No offs and only slight incidental contacts; A1590 to A1611 (70-72 percent). Not easy, but progress.

good day yesterday.. seems the trolls hate longer races - had a string of good finishes racing with decent drivers. jumped to S following an Imola GTE race!
