The option to use a button box for major menu items

I would like racing games to have the option to use a button box or at least controller assignments to be able to get the things like 'return to pitbox', 'drive', and so forth - the ones that when you have the VR headset on that cause you to whack your hand against everything when searching for the mouse or keyboard!
