It was done by my engineer friend. He simply took the top off and used the four screw posts to wrap a bunch of elastic woven cord in a sort of x pattern around the shifter shaft. It worked brilliantly making each shift more positive and giving a lot of resistance between the extents. Give it a go as it’s non destructive.
