Tires Revert 2 the electric boo hoo

So let me see if anyone else has noticed this.
Day 1 after update, cars feel like you are driving a real car, best sim driving experience I have had.
1 week after update, the tires are somewhere between where they were at first and where they were before update..hmmmm well maybe they are detailing things so it still feels good.
2 weeks after update. Tires are reverted back to last year. cars might as well be go karts all you are doing is sliding around the track. did notice the graphics looked better.
I am wondering if they had to revert the game back to get the graphics problems under control. If they are doing something like that I wish they would give everyone a heads up like hey the game is going to be crap until we sort this out.

I just went back and deleted my updates folder hoping that was the problem. It was not. Noticed after posting this that they did a mid month update from 1.3.6.1 to 1.3.6.2. Everyone in the community was raving about how good .1 was. Why do this? My hope is that this is just something they are sorting out and I will give them the benefit of the doubt.

There were no tyre changes in 1.3.6.2 aside from the Porsche Cups. You just experienced a session with slightly less grip because of random weather changes. And there haven't been any graphics changes either.

I dont care what they put in the dev log. They just undid 6 months of progress. Ive played this for the last year and can tell instantly that the tires have half the grip and non of the feel that they had on Sunday. Whatever they did it is way the wrong direction.

I mean you can see the change manifest on SteamDB and verify for yourself that only the cars mentioned in the patch notes received any changes:

Dont know what happened. I just know it feels wrong. My guess is they did something with TC or who know what. All of the cars feel washed out and have lost any sense of weight and where the grip edge is. This could not be a worst time for this to happen too. The game was getting some buzz about getting better.

I dont know if you are right or wrong but more or less everey 2nd time(exaggerated slightly) I have been starting AMS2 up since at least 2 upd back then Steam does message that an upd has been (or is been) activated.
And then the 10x10cm blue message shows something is going on (net and HD activity).
And after that I have to manually activate Play Game.
And often I also have to tell my firewall ZAlarmPro that the changed(!) AMS2 init files are legal.
But as mandatory there is nothing in any patch notes.

CatsAreTheWorstDogs: What cars/series can you feel this in?

I went out in the AMG..once i felt it in that i tested the GTE Porsche. I even went and tested the C3 R. It was not any worse than say PC2 but the cars had all lost the feeling of being "alive". It instantly reminded me of Asseto Corsa. The way it just feels too much like a game. All of the detail in the tires were gone, if you did not know how fast to take a corner, you certainly could not feel it. It reminds me of how the game felt in December when it seemed they had reverted every thing back. I will go out again later and see where it is.

Ok. so I went out and just tested it and the game felt back to normal. And honestly I believe this is my fault. Yesterday, I tried some of the new force feedback settings and did not realize that the FFB could have such a dramatic effect on the game. I tried the plus setting and added some gain and really did not think it could make the cars feel that bad. I dont know why this did not cross my mind until later but anyway. I am sorry for giving false feedback. That being said, I do believe it is super important that if anyone comes across something in game that they think might be a problem to let the devs know because feed back is the only way to know where the problems are.

OK Johny then Im glad I was very "diplomatic" in my post above.
Because after reading your posts about this then I thought lets see if anybody else does report anything remotedly related to this - before going to a conclusion.
But nothing. :whistling:

CatsAreTheWorstDogs: Your posts about this got me to think a bit about the difference between assessing a racing game using a FFB wheel or (like me) via a non-FFB wheel.
Personally I think that a lot of peoples reporting of physics behaviour in a game like this does often say more about what FFB profile they have loaded than the actual physics in the game.:)

Ya. i have to say this was eye opening. The cars felt like a joke. They just seemed to be gliding along with no input whatsoever. I honestly thought changing the ffb would make the wheel a little stiffer but really thinking about it you get all input except vision and sound from the wheel. Honestly, I was tore up. This is just a game but it seems I have invested a bit too much of myself into it. Ohh well, if it was not this it would just be something else. I really like getting into things so what do you do.

I believe it was your issue as well, they still drive fine to me

Hehe Im not the one to advice you - but why this disappointment?
A lot of people have the complete opposite problem.
They feel nothings matters - and cannot really get involved into anything.
Yeah its just a game - but that is as example RL F1 too. ;)
Good ole passed away Mistar Williams said it in plain words:
We are just part of the entertaining business. :)

Just curious as to if/which custom ffb file you use and what wheel you have?

I agree that a bad ffb file or setting makes this game feel absolutely terrible. I now have a custom ffb file that really makes my wheel alive and the cars feel great.

Honestly, I watched a video where a guy was talking about putting in custom files and adjusting the slider. So I tried the default+ setting and cut the gain up to 95 or something. It was really a comedy of errors. It felt bad and so I went back to regular default and it still felt bad but did not realize I still had gain set to 95. So I tried other cars and they all felt bad. Then when I seen that there had been a hot fix I thought they had reverted the tires back to the previous settings. I do think they took some of the grip and stiffness from the tires and I think they felt better at first. The thing is on cars like the Porsche GT3 it felt really bad. The other thing I noticed too was with increased grip you could get away with dropping all camber and aerodynamics and still have plenty of grip so I am guessing that is why they dialed it back. The tires feel good now and work inside the frame work of the game and I honestly should not have made a post without doing more research. What FFB file do you use? This has been eye opening for how important it is to simulating realism. I actually stuck with default+ but set gain to 70 and everything else to 50 as it is in default.

You need to place the file in your mydocuments/automobilista2 folder, not in the main install. I can almost guarantee you will prefer this one.
