Just the small matter of me installing a new purchase ATI 4870 1gb gfx card

What i cant find info about....yes even in the owners manual.....is do i plug 2 PCi-E power plugs in the card?,it has 2 ports just like my old failed 8800gtx does and it most definitely requires power in both or it makes a horrible loud "pig being smacked around a bit" squealing alarm noise and doesnt work....are these the same for power requirements?.
