Triples: Optimal screensize, what to choose and how many fps

What kind of screensize is the optimal if running triples? Which brand and model is best buy for the money? What kind of FPS can you get on triple 1440p's with a single 1080ti with the highest detail level in Project CARS 2 or Assetto Corsa ?

Mostly agree with Richard. Only place I'll differ is that 32" 1080p monitor pixels are going to look chunky, about 0.32mm pitch instead of down around 0.28mm pitch.

32" screen size is good for triples, but IMHO reserve it for 1440p... which means waiting until the next generation of gpus are available if you want a single gpu solution without compromising appearance to get acceptable fps.

Talking ab. screen size 27" to 34" is sweet, below is just tiny, above 40" central screen becomes too large to notice sides. I would recommend 1440p for that size, instead of full hd which has very low PPI for anything larger than 24"

G-sync imo is a must for any game with fast moving objects, smooth sharp tearless image in any conditions.
Whats more important - minimum input lag which is a bless in our games.

Assetto is CPU dependand, in race conditions with more than 20 cars on grid its more CPU case than GPU.
However single 1080Ti paired with strong i7 with full grid of cars on 3x 1440p should perform average fps:
-low visual settings = 160
-medium sett. = 120
-maxed = 75

pCARS2 again full grid 3x 1440p average fps:
-low sett = 185
-maxed = 52

I'm perfectly fine with 7680x1440 since 2015, first with Titan X Maxwell in SLI, now single 1080Ti.
Usually high settings with few mediums like AA or shadows which is not a problem on 2K screen.

Any good suggestions for monitors? I guess curved is best? Im not interested in buying the absolute most expensive but of course, they would need to be 144Hz, 1ms, gsync or FreeSync. I read somewhere that a special FreeSync monitor also supports Nvidia.

This is the problem. It should be 75 fps, but that's only if the cars & track are consistent and optimized. We all know that consistent and optimized doesn't happen. And we also all know that pCARS 2 has lower framerates than AC. Therefore, one either compromises on appearance or one accepts occasional sub-60 fps when using a single 1080ti with 1440p. We just ain't there yet!

Hard to tell, i've been using 3x Asus ROG 144Hz g-sync 27" and Acer Predator X34 3440x1440 g-sync curved. They are bit pricey once, and still are. Not sure how those cheaper AOC etc perform.

Keep in mind, free sync = only AMD cards, for g-sync you need NV.

edit: talking ab. curved screens, its nice feature but hardly noticeable at anything smaller than 34"

It should be 75 fps, but that's only if the cars & track are consistent and optimized.

Personally anything below 90fps hurts my eyes, so i'm never opting for visual settings, rather choosing consistence and fast framerates. Also tests were done in heaviest conditions on Spa and Ring with full grid, so numbers are reasonable.

Note: In Project Cars 2, I can average around 80fps @ 7680*1080 running high (not ultra) graphics with approx. 11 opponents on a i7-8700K and a single GTX-1080Ti.

Averages are almost meaningless, as long as they're above a reasonable fps. What's more important is the minimum fps, especially if it is recurring every lap because you'll curse the fps drop or stutter.

Only 11 opponents when the game is capable of 30? How can you do a meaningful race at Le Mans with only 11 opponents?

So, like both Richard and I said previously, using a single GPU is still going to require compromises if you try for more than triple 1920x1080.

Get the Samsung CHG90 49" Ultrawide..

It's so good... i ran 60hz 27" triples.. then 144hz 32" triples.. They were ok but a bit of a pain in the arse.. with framerates and compatibility with the 2 other screen i run on top of those!

But the 49" Samsung is just hands down the best... the frame rates are amazing... the FOV is awesome..!

I love it! I also run VR but for longer races use the monitor.. It's worth considering..
