TV Show to Laptop? wires?

Hi guys,

my question is what sort of wires would i need to connect my TV to my Laptop so i can see on my laptop what's on my TV.?

the software im going to use is XSPLIT but lost as to what to use for the wires.

Ok, so to be clear on that: you want the signal from your TV to be shown on your laptop? So that your laptop is serving as a TV, more or less? Not like showing on your TV what's visible on your laptop, i.e. Firefox etc.?

Depending on what kind of signal it is and how good your laptop is that can be easy or not so easy. Your TV is also a factor - if your TV has an HDMI out and your laptop has an HDMI in it's pretty easy.
