F1 2013 Tyres help

F1 2013 The Game (Codemasters)
Hi, I'm a bit confused on tyre,

So when I'm in career, long weekend, race50%, I have option tyres x5 and prime x5

I'm using an option, in practise I'm doing about 15-20. Laps,to get used to circuit,

Then in q1 I get in top 16 after some tweaking, q2 I put new option on, and tend to hit about 5-6 laps,.

When I get to race, I always have a strategy of 2 or 3 pit stops? Stuffs my race? why?

How should I use tyres in q1 , and which, option or prime ?

Thanks

Using options in qualifying is fine, as they are the faster tyre, however they wear out quicker.

You generally only want to do 1 flying lap to try and conserve your tyre life for the race though, i would say 5-6 laps is too many. Do you drive out of the pits yourself or go straight to a flying lap? Because if you drive out you should have 3 laps total on the tyres, a drive out/warm up lap, qualifying lap and then a slow cool down lap back to the pits.

If you want to save more options then try seeing if you can get through into Q2 on primes. I'll try and if I'm not quick enough I'll go out again on options
