Upgrading is the big waiting game

Damn it's really hard to get those tech companies to sell me stuff :p

Held my cool and did jump for the RTX 3000 series, now looks like I have to wait to see what Nvidia have to offer in Jan 21, unless the 6900 really blows me away.

I bought all the components for my new AMD build bar the CPU and GPU, well I have a 5900X on pre-order but it's been delayed and for sure I'm not getting it tomorrow as first estimated :p

So now waiting for my CPU, waiting for independent 6900 reviews and or 3080Ti reviews, waiting to see if I go AMD and then will want a new monitor, jeez for a normally very impatient guy this seems like all my impatient Karma has come at once.

And I want to get a G2 VR also another waiting game lol phew!!

Has anyone on here managed to get a Ryzen 5000 CPU?
And what are you guys being made to waiting for availability or release ?

I bought a new case, power supply, cpu cooler and two M.2 NVMe SSD before the Nvidia 30 series launch. Didn't get a RTX 3080, can't get a Ryzen 5000 series, probably won't be able to get a RX 6800XT when the AMD board partner cards launch next week.
I thought I was going to stick with Intel and Nvidia then thought about an all AMD build....AMD and Nvidia.....Intel and AMD......?:O_o::confused::confused::confused::confused:

Right now there is zero availability for the new AMD and Nvidia technology in my area of the USA, which has convinced me to wait until Q1 2021. Hopefully by then there will be more supply and it will be clearer which brand or combination of brands works best for the sim racing community......and triple displays at 7680 x 1440p 144Hz.

These paper or vapor launches are obnoxious. I saw reports that MicroCenter locations got like 8 6800s and 2 6800XT cards. All those people that lined up must have been pretty let down. Some stores got a few more, but come on. That is not an actual launch. I'm curious how many total GPU cards have been sold by AMD yet. It sure is not much. Not allowing their "partners" to sell cards for another week. Other major retailers like B&H won't even list the AMD cards for presale because AMD won't even tell them when they are getting anything or how many. After the problems with the RTX30000 launch, I guess AMD just watched it and and decided to go with the "Hold my beer and just watch this!" approach. Lets be real and call this out for what this is. A publicity stunt put together by a sales and marketing team.

I guess I should count my lucky stars my current sim rig pc is still reasonably powerful 9900k/rtx2080, but I'm really excited to get the new AMD build up and running GFX I guess I can wait longer :(

@ko41 I feel for you mate I have all my components now for over a month now gathering dust

I am patiently waiting on a new graphics card.
Of the ones released so far, that 6800XT is the most appealing for my type of gaming.
I actually had one in my cart for about two seconds before it disappeared when selecting 'check out'.
I probably won't change the current R5 3600X unless somebody 'chases' me down to buy it.
If that happens, I'll replace it with the R5 5600.
Frankly, I've been very happy with the 'old' CPU.
I'm biding my time working on my various car projects and have scaled back my simracing a bit until the card is in hand.
The shortages are a PITA and only serve to drive home the fact that we can't do without either China, S.Korea or Taiwan.

I'm just waiting to see what nVidia will bring in Q1 with the 3080Ti, although i am more than happy with my 2070 running my Triple Screen 5760x1080 set up and quite frankly it does a great job at running all my Sims at Ultra...so in no hurry really ;)...ahhh crap, who am I kidding, give me the 3080Ti already :redface::inlove::roflmao::roflmao:
