USB, headset gamepad issue

Very odd issue here guys. Think it is USB related.

I play a few of the basic games with a pad, like Wreckfest etc. Two USB ports on top of machine, mouse in one, pad in other, headphones and mic above that. Another 4 ports at back of machine with card, keyboard etc in.

Bought a headset recently and at the same time my faithful Logi 310 gave up the ghost so am trying a PS4 controller wire. And now, and even with the old 310 games like Destiny2 I was having issues with the game constantly showing me default menu icons etc for mouse and keyboard, not the joypad. I selected it on screen etc, but it would seemingly default to mouse and keys, perhaps as I was using mouse occasionally.

I would move the pad, and it would come back and show circle, square etc.

Then using headset with PS4 controller, I set it all up and it would only work if I didn't use the controller, if I touched the cable or moved it, the headset would cut out completely! Put it down, settle and chat would work again. Pick it up, it would disappear, weird.
