Ace9921 submitted a new resource:

V8 hybrid sound mod - Replaces the V6 hybrid sounds for the 2017 cars with V8 hybrids

You may have seen me talk about this mod in the WIP thread, but now, it's time to make it public.

Think the V6 hybrid sounds are a bit unfitting for how aggressively styled the 2017 cars are? How about giving them V8 hybrids instead? This mod will allow you to do just that.

The mod uses two V8 sounds from F1 2011 and the two V8 sounds from F1 2017 pitched up/down via hex editing of a byte in the BDL files.

To install, simply unzip the included file...

Is there a way to make it sound more realistic - the revs are too low so it sounds like you are shooort-shifting?

The overall pitch is low on purpose. This is not supposed to sound EXACTLY like the V8s from 2006-2014, they're supposed to be lower-revving V8s.

But if you want to increase the sound pitch yourself, open the BDLs in a hex editor and change byte 55. That's what controls the sound pitch of a BDL.

Nut can that editing make it sound like they shift up at normal rpm and not so low?

Increasing the value at byte 55 will increase the overall pitch of the engine, it should affect upshifting as well.

Navigate to audio/bundles in your F1 2017 game folder. x_2017.bdl, with x being ferrari/mercedes/honda/renault, is what you want to back up in case of a problem.

Have you got any recommendations on a specific hex editor to use? this is something i'd have loved to have known about sooner!

The hex editor I use is HxD. It's free and it's worked very well for me to do many things.

Start a Grand Prix save and exit during the session, when the game saves, it saves always so in the career, too. The game has only "to save" or "not to save" there is no difference between game modes.
