is this method a workaround to the problem where with the new UI it is impossible to start rf2 after the dedicated server because there is already an active rf2 process?

There is a launcher start workaround included in the video but of course it's not a long term solution. I have no idea how starting rF2 when either the separate dedicated server or the steam server version is running once the new UI is the default will work, or not at all.

Unlike RaceRoom you can run both on the same PC so even when the new UI becomes the default I don't see the underlying application structure changing.

I did ask for official advice but received nothing concrete so I based the video what is currently available which is pretty much all I could do.
