Virtual Mirrors - Aspect ratio

I understand in the latest update there was an overhaul in the mirrors of most cars, and the in car mirror look very good.

However, at least on my end, some virtual mirrors look quite bad (see screenshot, the image in the virtual mirror seems completely stretch).

I guess this is a compromise to get the in car mirror to look better? Is there anything that can be done to improve this?

How do activate them? I have "Mirrors=1" in my PLR but those mirrors at the top don't show up.
