Will Direct Storage improve game play??

I currently have a 1TB SSD, specs from my order sheet "SATA 6 Gb (520MB/R, 470MB/W)". Seems that NVMe SSD can hit 10x those transfer speeds.
But I don't know if racing games can make use of the higher transfer speeds??

My guess is NOT. It is advertised to speed game loading.
I suspect that it borrows from so-called fastboot,
AKA hibernation, where memory image of running (game)
software and data is written to disk.
Generically that is known as memory-mapped I/O.
