After having topped every practice session so far this event, Hartley's 1:39.802 and Bernhard's 1:39.670 put them three tenths clear of their sister entry, whilst also ensuring that Porsche completed their season long monopoly on pole positions.
Marcel Fässler and Andre Lotterer put the #7 Audi in third place on the grid, with their sister car again just behind, however they could do little to prevent Porsche extending their points advantage to 13 points.
In LMP2 the Signatech Alpine team backed up their victory last time out in Shanghai with pole position in Bahrain, they just edged out the #47 KCMG title challenger before Tandy's best effort was deleted for infringing track limits. Their LMP2 title rivals in the #26 G-Drive Racing will start third in class.
The GTE Pro lineup was also effected by post-qualifying penalties, as James Calado's lap time was deleted to deny the #71 second on the grid as they will now start at the back of the pack. Whilst finally in GTE Am it was the #98 Aston Martin that took the honours for the fifth time this season.
