I have so much memories from my first rally, and so many things to tell that I just get overwhelmed whenever I think about writing about it. Still here goes some stuff:
It was awesome to feel the car oversteer slightly as I had more confidence and got more speed (super surprised with the grip that rally tires have!). I finished the rally (much unlike my rallies here in RD) because there was big money involved in case I crashed, and I am a bit proud that I wasn't last either
Was cool to see all the national drives, Mads Østberg and Jonas Andersson were also there, they held a short chat session with beginners (I had to do it portuguese style and arrive 3 minutes before they were over, of course) giving some advice and answering questions that people had. A bit later Jonas passed by me and my car and recognized "the late guy", so he stopped to say that if I need anything I can come over to their service place anytime, and then we had a chat for a few minutes, was quite cool. The ambient was really relaxed and friendly, it was really easy to talk to anyone there, really enjoyed that.
The stages were quite fast, but of course my speed wasn't. Unfortunaly the camera I had only recorded the first stage, it got low on battery and didn't film much of the rest. But my co-driver has some more footage from his camera that I will post here as soon as I get a hand on it. Of course, I had a moment on the second-last stage, going over a crest into a 6-right, I did not hold the line as much as I should and the car almost left the road on the left side at the exit, the car might have driven 100 metres with two wheels way off the road, lucky there was only grass and not stones or tree stumps (unfortunately no footage of that).
It was quite short (44km of ss) and it really planted the bug in me, really looking forward to the next one on 31st August. But money is a problem if people don't belong in the motorsport world, I have nothing myself or any friends that are around cars all the time, so I rent and pay a good deal of money, but still worth it to fulfill a life-long dream
Here is a picture, I'll post mine and my videos later:
