F1 2011 what does the FOV control ?

i know its field of view, but does it make you see more to the sides ?

Basically it zooms your view in or out. The default cockpit FOV I find ridiculous, it feels like driving from the back seat. I zoom it in much closer, so only about the top 3rd of the steering wheel is visible, makes hitting your apexes 100x easier. On a single screen however you will lose a lot of side view at this FOV, luckily I have triple screen so no issue

I believe you would set the number higher for more FOV, or more side view, The number should equal the amount of degrees in your viewing arc.

At 90, or 90 degrees you will be able to see 45 degrees to either side. If you set it higher it also effects performance, so look out for that.

It also affects the sense of speed. The higher the FOV, the more sense of speed you get.
